ALCOHOL - denomination of a ternaries class of chemical composts, constituted by carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. formed by the attachment of one or more hydroxyl (-OH) groups to carbon atoms. The word alcohol is used to designate the ethylic or ethanol alcohol.

ANHYDROUS ALCOHOL - with an alcoholic level higher than 99,3º INPM, it is generally used to be added to petrol.

TRANSFORMED ALCOHOL - alcohol with the addition of substances to avoid its use in beverages, food or pharmaceutical products.

ETHYL ALCOHOL (ETHANOL) - the most important member of the alcohols (C2H5OH), with molecular weight: 46,07; ebullition point: 78,4°C; specific heat (20°C) 0,573 kcal/kg, ºK; vaporization heat (78,3ºC); 204,3 kcal/kg; refraction index (20ºC): 1,3610.

HYDRATED ALCOHOL - present alcoholic graduation around 93,2º INPM, it is generally used as automotive fuel.

REFINED ALCOHOL - suffers a new modification, to achieve the following criteria: minimum alcoholic level of 94,2ºINPM; maximum total acidity of 1,5 mg/100 ml; maximum aldehyde of 1,0 mg/100 ml; maximum esters of 2,0 mg/100 ml; maximum fixed residues of 1,0 mg/100 ml: minimum Barbet of 15 minutes.
